SilverTech Inc., a provider of end-to-end, fully-encrypted private Internet networks, has launched eKids Internet with support from Hewlett-Packard. eKids Internet is a safe, fun, educational environment where children can play, learn and communicate with other children around the globe. As part of a long-term partnership with SilverTech, HP's Security Consulting organization assessed SilverTech's business model and technology needs and designed a comprehensive solution that enables the company to realize its e-services vision. HP 9000 Enterprise Servers running HP-UX 11 will power the company's virtual private networks, and HP will secure the entire communications path to provide an encrypted connection between SilverTech and its subscribers. HP is also providing financing and network integration services as well as mission-critical support. While eKids is the first private network to leverage SilverTech's private Internet engine technology, others will follow. SilverTech plans to create a private, secure network for the government sector as well as networks for groups of business professionals, such as doctors, lawyers, and universities around the world, all powered and supported by HP.
"HP Consulting helped us refine our e-services delivery model, assessing our needs and risks and designing a comprehensive solution that enables us to deliver our services in a safe, secure and fun environment. We literally could not run our business without the reliable, scalable and robust end-to-end Internet infrastructure HP designed. HP-UX 11i, for example, will provide Internet-critical functionality and high performance that ensures our users have a positive, reliable experience. But it doesn't stop there. HP also is delivering expert network integration services as well as mission-critical support and financing -- in other words, everything we need to expand our fully-encrypted private Internet networks into a global market. HP's core competencies are key to helping us to be successful."
