Korea Telecom Hitel Co. Ltd. is the Internet arm of Korea's largest fixed line provider and second largest cellular operator, Korea Telecom. Hitel was one of the first movers in the quickly developing Korean Internet market and has continued to hold a leading position since its founding in December of 1991. The company is currently growing from its core OSP/ISP access business into an integrated Internet services company with the expansion of its e-commerce and Internet portal divisions. Korea Telecom currently owns a 66 percent stake in the company. Hitel's revenues were $56 million for year ended December 1999, which represents an approximately 50 percent compound annual growth rate since 1992.
"Hitel is emerging as a 21st century leader in Internet-based information and communications. We are relying on HP's dynamic e-speak platform to provide our next-generation service offerings with the competitive edge we need to lead the market and to create an experience that will keep our customers coming back to the Hitel portal."
